WHAT IS WE LOVE READING
We Love Reading inspires children to read for fun through our research-backed read-aloud program, training local volunteers to read to children in their neighborhoods.
WHAT WE DO
We Love Reading Program
WLR trains local volunteers to read aloud to children in their community, providing them with skills and knowledge to create a neighborhood library.
Children's Books Development
We have developed 32 children’s books about the environment, empathy, social cohesion, nonviolence, refugees, gender, and disabilities.
WHY WE ARE UNIQUE
The WLR model is designed to be simple and accessible, making it easily adaptable to diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic contexts.
The flexibility and cost-effectiveness of our community-based model allows it to easily spread across borders, and also makes it the ideal basis for a reading movement.
WLR believes in “paying it forward”—we train community members to encourage the love of reading in children, who pass that love onto their peers and families.
This is a social movement, one that leverages collective action at the local level to create change within the community and throughout society.
We strive to empirically demonstrate the impact the program has on society, children, and Reading Ambassadors.
