Dr. Rana Dajani, founder and CEO of We Love Reading initiative, was a part of the 3rd edition of the International Symposium on Youth Employment Challenges Conference (ISYEC) took place from the 26th FEBRUARY to the 1st MARCH, 2018, in AGU facilities in Kayseri, Turkey.
The Idea of the conference came As a result of the rapidly growing rate of unemployment–due to multiple factors and global economic, cultural, demographic, and financial challenges–and in the effort to address this urgent issue, Abdullah Gül University (AGU) started to organize an international symposium for youth employment, and invited experts from formal, non-formal, and private sectors.
International Symposium on Youth Employment Challenges which is an international platform for young people and employees, private sector representatives, social entrepreneurs, and academicians to discuss challenges facing youth employment, to share good practices and expertise, and to brainstorm suggestions and solutions to tackle this issue.
Dr. Dajani, the founder of We Love Reading, spoke in the “transition to innovation” panel at the International Symposium on Youth Employment Challenges (ISYEC). She delivered a speech about the intersection of social entrepreneurship and science, mentorship, and the story of We Love Reading.
In addition, Dr. Dajani shared models and programs both formal and non-formal for different age’s groups that will foster entrepreneurship, agency and ownership, harnessing the huge potential present in our youth to create a generation of changemakers who will make a difference.
The event also included a series of panels which outlined the dimensions of the issue, the motives for intervention, and the possibilities of improving youth employment through cross-sectorial cooperation.
