On November 2, We Love Reading led a read-aloud workshop at the Jordanian School Librarians Conference in Amman. The workshop explored the impact reading aloud has on a child and how that impact can extend into the classroom. We had a lively conversation about issues that the attendees experience with reading practices in their own classrooms and libraries, and rounded out the workshop with a demonstration of reading aloud using our tried and true practices. It generated a strong positive reaction, with many signing up for our training and purchasing books for their students.
This was We Love Reading’s second year participating in the Jordanian School Librarians Conference, joining our voice with other champions of reading in the region to shape a new generation of readers. The conference discussed how school librarians can spur their students’ successes, helping them to grow to spark change for a better future. It brought together active educators, innovative NGOs, creative technology companies, and many others to create an interactive and inspiring forum.
We look forward to next year’s conference!
