After conducting over 100 We Love Reading trainings and hosting a screening of WLR ambassador Asma’s powerful documentary, “The Neighborhood Storyteller”, for more than 50 parents, Dawn Child Foundation sparked emotional responses and deep engagement with the program.
We Love Reading is proud to highlight the incredible work of Dawn Child Foundation (DCF), an NGO based in South Delhi, India, which has become a strong and inspiring partner in expanding the WLR program, bringing more people from their community into the program to be WLR ambassadors and change their communities through reading.
DCF works with parents in low-income communities, helping them build strong, nurturing relationships with their children through storytelling, emotional well-being, non-violent communication, and developmental psychology. Our partnership is grounded in a shared vision to empower adults as changemakers and nurture a culture of reading for pleasure among children.
Despite challenges such as language barriers, Mukul S. Gulati, Founder of Dawn Child Foundation, translated the WLR training into the local language, ensuring the program remains accessible, inclusive, and impactful for more families.
Moreover, by training mothers to become storytellers, DCF promotes parental empowerment, strengthening emotional bonds between parents and children, just as many WLR ambassadors have shared in their own experiences.
Through this partnership and collaboration, We Love Reading and Dawn Child Foundation are building a powerful movement rooted in literacy, empathy, and connection, transforming homes, families, and communities across India, to bring read-aloud sessions to every neighborhood around the world.
