Yesterday, the We Love Reading team visited Zaatari camp with the We Love Reading Ambassador Asma Al-Rashed, where the latest We Love Reading book “Mama’s Magic” was distributed.
About a thousand copies were distributed to students from different schools, some community centers, and kindergartens.
The children were excited to read the story and some of them started reading it on their way to school.
Sarah, a child who studies at one of the camp’s schools, said: “I am participating in a reading competition and I am excited to read “Mama’s Magic” book in order to summarize it for the competition.”
“Mama’s Magic” book is based on the life of Asma Rashed, A young mother of four who lives in the Zaatari camp in Jordan.
Asma, like many other Syrian refugees, has lived through the struggles of war and displacement. Her resilience and determination led her to become a community leader who fights for better opportunities for her community and children.
Attending a We Love Reading training in the Zaatari camp in 2014, Was a turning point for Asma. After receiving training on how to read aloud, she took it upon herself to share her skills, books, and preserve the spirit and desire for change with those around her.
