The Prime Minister, his excellency Bishr Al-Khasawneh approved the 29th of September to become the National Reading Day in Jordan. This happened in conjunction with the National Reading Campaign. The campaign was launched by We Love Reading earlier this year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, her excellency Haifaa Al-Najjar.
On this occasion, We Love Reading carried out several face-to-face and digital activities, with the aim of encouraging the culture of reading.
National Reading Day comes as an affirmation of the critical role reading plays in raising awareness and enriching knowledge,
and it aims to promote a reading culture and make it a daily habit.
During this day, a group of our ambassadors carried out several activities as follows:
1- Our ambassador, Jamila Mahmoud Abu Melhem, was invited by the principal of Jerash Elementary School for Girls, to intervene in the mothers’ council meeting to speak about the importance of reading which enhances imagination, creativity, and Academic and emotional skills. She also held a reading session for children.
2- Our ambassador, Tamam Hiyari, held a reading session at Al-Huda Al-Mustaqim School and Kindergarten to read stories to children.
3- Our ambassador in Ajloun, Aida Al Zaghoul, held a reading session for children at school.
4- Our wonderful ambassador Reham Al-Aboud held a reading session for children in the school where she works.
We also broadcasted a group of encouraging messages by our ambassadors in various governorates, who participated in the national campaign We Love Reading, the messages aim to promote reading culture.
