We Love Reading members Dr. Rana Al Dajani and Alaa Al Zaghoul were invited to attend the OpenIDEO boot camp in Uganda, where they learned about the basics of human-centred design in project development. They also met with Mr. Magoba, the broadcaster of Dorka radio station in Uganda, who has created “Diamond Magazine” inspired by the WLR initiative. He added that the creation of this magazine based off of a WLR idea shows how adaptable our model is.
Mr. Magoba rightly thought that through a bilingual magazine, they could reach hundreds of primary schools. When Mr Magoba and another radio DJ mentioned the beauty of WLR, some other enthusiastic people went on to emulate the WLR model. One such person, Ruth Nansereko, planned and organised a reading competition some primary schools in her area (between Kampala and Masaka).
