One of the most important pieces of advice from the We Love Reading program for conducting an enjoyable reading session for children is not to give children any gifts or toys to motivate them to read. The goal is not for them to read for the sake of a reward, but for reading to become a part of children’s lives and for the story itself to be a gift for them. This was shared by one of the new We Love Reading ambassadors during the recent training held in Zarqa/Russeifa. The training took place over two days on the 9th and 12th of July at the Athar Youth Development Association, and it was conducted by trainer Ghofran Abu Daya.
The training spanned two days and included a variety of guidance and practical exercises aimed at training We Love Reading ambassadors to conduct high-quality read-aloud sessions for children. The goal is to ensure that children enjoy themselves during the reading session by selecting suitable stories that resonate with their lives and incorporating physical engagement into the reading, making children look forward to the next reading session and a new story that captures their imagination.
Regarding the ambassadors, the training also aims to enhance their sense of social responsibility. After the training ended, a group of new ambassadors expressed their interest in holding reading sessions in public places and community centers.
Additionally, the new ambassadors were registered on the We Love Reading virtual community platform to interact with each other and share information about their reading sessions, challenges, and different volunteering opportunities. Through this platform, We Love Reading aims to create a safe space for ambassadors to expand their social networks and actively inspire and motivate others through their reading sessions.”
