Dr. Rana Dajani, founder of the We Love Reading program, participated in the educational day on digital safety and online violence, organized by the Jubilee Institute and inspired by the novel “Digital Shadows” by author Mariam Nareiman Nummar.
Dajani’s participation came within a panel discussion that addressed the psychological, legal, and social dimensions of digital violence, as well as the impact of social media platforms on adolescents and youth, with the participation of specialists in mental health and law.
During the session, Dajani emphasized the importance of novels and storytelling in opening discussions on sensitive issues, noting that stories help young people and parents better understand social and psychological problems and talk about them in a more relatable and impactful way.

In a televised interview on Jordanian TV on the sidelines of the event, Dajani stressed the importance of building dialogue and trust within families from an early age, to give children a sense of safety when discussing any negative online experiences. She also highlighted the need to set boundaries for social media use while providing alternatives based on dialogue, reading, and family activities.
She further called for involving young people themselves in designing awareness campaigns related to digital protection and mental health, as they are best placed to understand the challenges their generation faces in the digital space.
The educational day included panel discussions, theatrical performances, and intellectual debates addressing the impact of social media on youth identity, alongside the psychological, legal, and social dimensions of online violence.
