We Love Reading conducted a two-day training session on May 28th and 29th at the Islamic Charitable Center – Gaza Camp for Community Services in Jerash. The training involved the participation of a group of women from the camp residents and surrounding areas. It covered various topics, including techniques for reading aloud to children, the importance of reading, book selection criteria, and practical applications.
Additionally, we introduced the We Love Reading digital community platform, which allows ambassadors to register and interact with one another. Through this platform, they can share information about their reading sessions, and volunteering opportunities, and engage in various activities. The attendees comprised mothers, teachers, and students from different age groups who highly praised the training. Ambassador Layla Al-Kurdi, one of the participants, expressed her gratitude, stating, “I would like to thank the organizers of this meeting. I deeply appreciate the valuable information. Special thanks to those who will continue this enjoyable journey as reading ambassadors. Reading stories has become an indispensable part of my future plans. Every Thursday, I will organize an open day for reading stories at the Center for Knowledge and Quranic Sciences as we strive for improvement.”
Ambassador Abeer Hamdan also commented, “Despite the limited duration of the training, it was filled with highly useful and simplified information, complemented by enjoyable practical applications. I gained further insights into reading for pleasure and personally and professionally benefited from it.”
Furthermore, it is important to note that the We Love Reading digital community platform was recently launched to create a digital community for We Love Reading ambassadors. This platform enables them to exchange experiences and information about reading sessions, monitor the progress of reading ambassadors, document their sessions, and share diverse opportunities, collaborating to tackle various challenges. A comprehensive suite of integrated digital tools has been developed to provide a distinctive user experience for the ambassadors.
Jerash Governorate is renowned for its active ambassadors who consistently conduct impactful reading sessions for children. One notable ambassador in Jerash is Mrs. Jameela Abu Mulhim, who previously met with several women in Gaza Camp and conducted an awareness session on the importance of reading aloud to children.
