15.August.2021 We Love Reading is honored to be partnering with Phoenix Space, A UK registered nonprofit, Phoenix Space provides displaced and underprivileged students in the Middle East with cutting edge STEM educational programs and tools to develop their scientific literacy, improve their life chances, and empower their communities.
Driven by the shared vision of a world where educated, skilled and critical-thinking young people are able to take part in building a more just and inclusive society and create an economically sustainable future for their families, communities and home countries, We Love Reading and Phoenix Space aim at building on the development of key competencies necessary for personal fulfilment and active citizenship in the long-term.
While We Love Reading encourages reading for pleasure as a vehicle for personal growth and community transformation, Phoenix Space nurtures young people’s passion for space and general science.
We aim that through this partnership, Phoenix Space will gain more operational insights into the successful scale up of locally-led sustainable initiatives, and We Love Reading’s reading circles project will be expanded into Phoenix Space’s existing network, further promoting the enthusiasm for reading among refugee children and their families.
Rana Dajani, Founder and Director of We Love Reading said that the core principle of being a scientist is curiosity. Falling in love with reading is what fosters curiosity and develops critical thinking skills that help us push the boundaries and go above and beyond to explore and go where no one has gone before. Therefore, our initiatives coincide and support each other to achieve mutual goals of promoting curiosity and love of learning.
Alevtina Nepomniachtchikh, Founder and CEO of Phoenix Space, commented: “What We Love Reading has accomplished since its inception, expanding over 55 countries and empowering local actors is truly impressive. We feel extremely happy to be able to help WLR spread its reading mission as well as learn from WLR’s extensive experience, so we can spark curiosity and love for learning in more young minds for them to be able to develop their potential and agency.”
