Launched in 2016, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) is a government entity with a mandate to support founders as they build businesses that serve as engines for socio-economic progress. We are curating the culture of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sharjah to cultivate an environment that supports creativity and divergent thinking. They offer a full-stack venture-building program that guides founders across all stages of their journey.
We Love Reading is moving in its business model from an organization that depends on grants to one that generates its own income to be able to keep the Program for free for those who need it the most. Kind of like robin hood take from the rich to give to the poor.
This is something we love reading is starting to explore. This opportunity with sharjah access will allow We Love Reading to start testing its new business model and obtain advice, support and mentorship going forward to achieve its vision of reaching every child in every neighborhood in the world.
Sharjah has a rich history of enhancing and promoting literature, publishing, and other book-related industries, with its leaders dedicating decades to growing the emirate’s literary community. With globally renowned offerings such as the Sharjah International Book Fair, the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, and Sharjah Publishing City, to name but a few, Sharjah’s efforts to promote a culture of reading and learning have led the city to be crowned the UNESCO World Book Capital for 2019. It is the first city in the Gulf – and the third Arab city in the world – to earn this title.
