On the International Arabic Language Day, our ambassador in Jerash, Tammam Hiyari, launched her first book for children, entitled: “The Tree of Stories”, which aims to encourage the love of reading and learning among children.
Tamam Al-Hiyari cooperated with our ambassador in Mafraq, the artist Muhammad Al-Qat’an, where Muhammad made drawings of the story. The two ambassadors met during their participation in the national campaign in which We Love Reading launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and under the auspices of His Excellency Haifa Al-Najjar.
Tamam says: “You can’t imagine the immense happiness on our children’s faces when we read stories to them, and when I finish the story, they ask for another story.”
As for Tamam, she is a retired teacher of the Arabic language, and she won the Queen Rania Award for Distinguished Teacher 2006, second place in the Kingdom.
And she won the award for the best graduation project from the Arab staff in Education Technology 2007
Tamam also won several literary awards in the for her effort in writing of the short stories. She won first place in the short story at the level of Jerash Governorate for the Literary Creativity Competition of the Teachers Syndicate 2015.
Now she continues to hold reading sessions as an ambassador for We Love Reading in several regions.
As for Muhammad Al-Qat’an, a painter and writer for Al-Ghad newspaper, he presented a writing workshop entitled “Release your ideas” with the support of the Ministry of Culture. He participated in many workshops on writing a story with a picture. He was one of the artists participating in the “Pen” project to write the story, and he worked as a writer and illustrator with many children’s magazines, including: Zaha newspaper, a children’s newspaper, Al-Arabi Al-Sagheer magazine, Wissam magazine, and others. He wrote the story of the orange-haired woman. In addition to his work as a painter and writer, Muhammad makes dolls, and he makes dolls in the form of some characters in We Love Reading stories.
