Since the launch of the movie “The Neighborhood Storyteller”, based on the life of our ambassador, Asmaa Al-Rashed, it has received many international awards, lately, it was the selection as the highly Commended film at the Orion international film festival. In 2022, the film received five awards as follows:
Toronto Women’s Film Festival Award, Best Short Documentary Award at Amsterdam Short Film Festival, Excellence Award from Docs Without Borders Festival, and Hague International Film Festival Award. Film director Alejandra Alcala also received the Women in Film Award from the International Mountain Film Festival.
It was also the official selection of 25 international film festivals in 14 countries around the world, and has been nominated at major film festival awards so far!

The Neighborhood Storyteller documentary was produced in 2021 Submitted by the Big Heart Foundation and directed by Alejandra Alcala Co-Founder of HOME Storytellers, a non-profit that uses the power of film to shed light on sustainable solutions to the refugee crisis through character-driven short documentary films.
It was an official selection of the New York International Women’s Film Festival and a semi-finalist at the Flakers Rhode Island International Film Festival, and semi-finalist at the Atlanta Film Awards and a finalist at the Dublin Independent Film Festival
It was also officially selected at the Portland Film Festival, La Famia International Festival, Syria International Festival, and other festivals.
In 2014, Asmaa received the We Love Reading training and started her journey as a We Love Reading Ambassador in the Zaatari camp,while she was overcoming many challenges and establishing her own initiative in the camp.
