In the presence of the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Haifa Najjar, a meeting of the preparatory committee was held to discuss the nomination of Amman to be the World Book Capital for the year 2026. The meeting took place at the Royal Cultural Center. Upon invitation from the Ministry of Culture, Project Manager Engineer Lina Qutaishat represented the We Love Reading program at the meeting.

This invitation comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s interest in collaborating with relevant institutions to present an outstanding proposal for the nomination of Amman for this title, which is granted by UNESCO. Her excellence emphasized the importance of cooperation between Jordanian cultural institutions, whether governmental, private, or non-governmental, both locally and internationally, to formulate a proposal that reflects Amman’s excellence in the fields of literature, writing, publishing, and documentation.
In addition, she stated that pursuing this title would contribute to enhancing Jordan’s cultural heritage, as winning the title of “World Book Capital” represents an opportunity to showcase Amman’s cultural brilliance to the world.
